Henriques and Henriques

Camara de Lobos
The Henriques and Henriques winery has an excellent shop with a very full range of Madeira wines offered, as well as a bar for tasting the wines.
A pleasant afternoon can be spent at the winery in Camara de Lobos which is just a very short walk from the fishing harbour. The harbour is still very much a working harbour, though many of the bars are for tourists as much as the fishermen from this town.
As well as fishing, Camara de Lobos is a major grape growing area on the south coast of Madeira and the vineyards can be seen on the hillsides above the town. Naturally many of the grapes will be grown for Henriques and Henriques and the other Camara based Madeira wine producer Barbeito.
It was of course in Camara de Lobos that Winston Churchill spent his time on Madeira painting. Camara de Lobos has an amazing setting and breathtaking views of the coastline as the painting below shows.
Henriques and Henriques has an excellent reputation for its Madeira wines producing a considerable range from very young 3 year old wines to having stocks of some great age.
Henriques and Henriques wines are available in the UK through Waitrose cellar.
