Octávio Freitas wines
Octávio Freitas is a Madeiran chef who is developing this range of wines.
Using Tinta Negra grapes a red wine named Massaroco Clarete Red is produced with grapes grown near Calheta on the southern coast.
A rose is produced and this wine exhibits notes of strawberries and red fruits.
The white is named Galatrixa and a very good white wine it is. A blend of Malvasia Fina, Verdelho and Terrantez is quite intriguing. The wine has some serious tropical fruit notes and described as persistent and expressive. I quite understand that description.
